Irish golf trips have a shape: four to eight players, a tee sheet that will not move, and a set of courses spread over three counties and several hundred kilometres. The classic south-west circuit — Ballybunion, Lahinch, Doonbeg, Tralee, Waterville, Old Head — cannot sensibly be done by rental car after a transatlantic flight, and it certainly cannot be done after a good dinner.
The way we run it: one driver for the whole trip, the same vehicle throughout, clubs loaded once and left there. Your driver knows the clubhouse entrances, knows how long the road to Waterville actually takes, and is there when you come off eighteen.
For groups of six or more we run two vehicles in convoy — four golfers with full bags fill a seven-seater properly, and pretending otherwise ruins a morning.
