The Cliffs of Moher are 267 kilometres from Dublin Airport: roughly three hours and ten minutes, almost all of it motorway as far as Limerick, then north-west through Ennis and Ennistymon.

This is the single most requested journey we run, and it is worth saying plainly what a private car changes about it. The coach tours arrive in a block between 11 am and 2 pm, which is exactly when the visitor centre car park is fullest and the main viewing platform is busiest. With your own driver you can leave Dublin at seven and be standing at O'Brien's Tower in near solitude, or go late and stay for the sunset, which in June does not happen until after half nine.

Not just a drop-off

Most people booking this route are not being dropped at the cliffs and abandoned — they want the driver to wait and then continue. We do that. Tell us on the quote form how long you want at the cliffs and where you are going afterwards, and we will price the whole day rather than a one-way fare. Popular add-ons on the same run:

  • The Burren — the limestone pavement at Fanore and Black Head, ten minutes off the coast road
  • Doolin — for the ferry, or for the pub session at O'Connor's
  • Poulnabrone Dolmen — a five-thousand-year-old portal tomb, and a two-minute walk from the road
  • The Wild Atlantic Way coast road to Ballyvaughan and Kinvara

Weather, honestly

The cliffs are on the open Atlantic. They are magnificent in cloud and they are occasionally closed in a gale. Because your driver is monitoring the day rather than following a coach schedule, we can shift the timing by a couple of hours if the forecast is against you. It is one of the quiet advantages of travelling privately.

What the fare covers

€590 for up to 3 passengers, €640 for up to 7. Tolls, parking, flight monitoring and up to an hour of free waiting on airport pick-ups are included. Visitor-centre admission is paid at the gate and is not part of the fare.
