Powerscourt House and its lake in the Wicklow Mountains

Private day tour

Wicklow Mountains & Glendalough

Ireland's garden county, forty minutes from the terminal.

Starts from
Dublin
Duration
Half day — 5 to 6 hours
Distance
approx. 130 km loop

This is the day for a short stay, a long layover, or an arrival morning when nobody has the appetite for four hours in a car.

Glendalough is a sixth-century monastic settlement in a glacial valley with two lakes — round tower, gatehouse, graveyard, and walking trails ranging from twenty minutes to four hours. It is forty-five minutes from Dublin city and about an hour from the airport.

Getting there is half of it. The military road over the Sally Gap climbs through open blanket bog to viewpoints over Lough Tay — the dark one, with the pale beach, that appears in every drone shot of Ireland ever filmed. On a clear day you can see the sea from the top.

If you are travelling on a departure day, we can run this as a morning loop and deliver you to the terminal afterwards, bags in the boot.
